The Essence and Energies of Numbers

Curiosity and continuous study in this field of Ancient Wisdom has brought me many deep and wide insights. In this essay of numbers, I will attempt to familiarize you with some of the general traits and characteristics of their individual energies and “special” features including the master numbers 11 and 22. As I continue to learn, I find new Masters of the language of Numerology through the Ages and connect with Teachers of Numerology both recent and historic, through manuscripts, books and much more. Read on for key features of potential positive, vacillating and negative possibilities of the numbers 1-9 and more. When you know important numbers that relate to you by your date of birth or a cornerstone letter value (e.g. Kim - K=11), you can begin to identify with and feel connected to some of these traits and energies.

1 YANG/FIRE

THRUST, SELFHOOD, MASCULINE, POWER, FOCUS, INDIVIDUATION, ACTION AND ASSERTIVENESS. THE PRIMAL FORCE. ADAM.

Potential Positive Traits: Independent, assertive, original, inventive, focused and ambitious. Decisive, pioneering, loves a new beginning and a self-starter with determination and inner strength. Progressive and strong-willed, with built-in courage and constructive rebellion. Born to Lead and activate, motivate and be an inspiration to others through their power to create.

Potential Negative Traits: Could be arrogant, domineering, self-centered, somewhat greedy, stubborn, weak, undisciplined and quarrelsome. Intolerant of others and impatient with those who are not as they are, they can be pariah, reclusive and aloof. The 1 energy is a force of life and may stand alone, rather than marry or proceed in partnerships. They work well in their own space and on their own mission. 1 is the original manifestation of the Masculine aspect and through life may seek the attributes of the 2, but not always be able to merge with it. If 1 is in the Life Path Position the Person will need more time to step into their full potential, and that could be identified in the age digit between 35 to 36 years.

1 with ZERO: When 10 is a feature in the chart, it stands for completion. The soul on reaching this quality, becomes fully individualized. Thus, the number 10 person can stand alone, as leaders working on their own initiative. Creative activity and firm self-reliance are the key-notes of the 10 consciousness. Explorers and pioneers, governors, high officials of ecclesiastical and business enterprises are generally found to have attained the 10 consciousness. Here, it is important to note that all numbers, with the exception of 11 and 22 are added to revert to the root number. However, where 10 appears, or repeats, as in the life path, destiny or day number, there is an additional element of I AM THAT I AM and a recognized power of SELFHOOD, where ALL is POSSIBLE. Zero is the DIVINE Source and Power of all that is, contained within it are ALL Essences and Energies.

2 YIN/EARTH

RECEPTIVE, YIELDING, FEMININE, FLOWERING, SURRENDERING, PATIENCE, CONTEMPLATION, COMFORTING AND EMPATHIC. DIPLOMACY, PEACE-SEEKING, ALL-KNOWING AND HARMONISING. EVE.

Potential Positive Traits: Sensitive, detail-oriented, studious, with musical expression, balanced and co-operative, tactful and considerate, somewhat persuasive with diplomatic responses and a desire to mediate and moderate. The Feminine qualities of sensuality and intuition are noted. The 2's are happy followers and need partnerships as they feel incomplete and can live a life of desperate seeking without a mate or companion. They would rather be partnered in very difficult unions than walk through life alone and are often a door-mat and servant to their mate. The 2 and the 11 are sometimes associates and there may be a significant type of 2 who follows the path of the nun or priest as they make a devotion to a lifelong union with the Divine. However, the 11, prefers to stand on their own two feet and they are more likely to go through life without permanent life partners.

Potential Negative Traits: Blunt, scheming, bull-headed, overly sensitive, uncomfortably shy, intolerant, manipulative, cross and unfriendly. They can be careless in the negative, particularly with the truth and when criticized for their short-comings or faults they can be defensive, overly sensitive and feel tragically victimized rather than being open to dealing with the issue.

3 YIN/YANG – AIR

THE MIND: ANALYSIS, THOUGHT, INSIGHT, COMMUNICATION, PERCEPTIONS, ACCUMULATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND FACTS.

Potential Positive Traits: Creative, verbally expressive, happy and imaginative, sociable, friendly, joyful and charming, tolerant, talented and jovial. Youthful and dynamic they are the greatest communicators. Mercurial and artistic, they can be Bohemian-Like, expressive through arts, voice, words, rhythm, movement and sport and can have a few things going at once and not finish them all until the 11th hour.

Potential Negative Traits: Faddish, gloomy, moody and depressed, pessimistic, hostile, gossipy, snobbish and comparing. As inspirational as the 3’s are, there is a price – they can fall into vanity, extravagance, and are prone to complaining. Intolerance, hypocrisy and impatience, with superficiality, are often par for the course if in the lower range or negative.

12 is the predecessor of 3 – the Male and the Female creating the child. 3 is sometimes referred to as “The Creative Child” for this reason. 12 represents the Powerful unit of energy when combined. 1+2 = 3, Creation and a Paradigm Shift, a shift in Awareness or Consciousness. The 3 attains this through exploring Innocence Lost and will often repeat cycles 3 times or find themselves in complicated, diverse, multi-tasking roles or situations, be over-worked or even take on way too much and then burn out as well as be involved in triangular relationships or complex 3-way partnerships to understand how to return to their most joyful and pure Self. They are excellent at reinventing themselves through creativity. The 12 relates to lessons learned through all 12 hours, day and night, through the 12 astrological signs, the 12 strands of DNA, and, "Through the wisdom of the 12 apostles and 12 directions" we create our best work, our best life. It is the number of completions through creative energy. The 3’s are connected in a more multi-dimensional way and the odd number lends itself to be both odd and even, with the power of the masculine and feminine within its creative energies, and so it can do so much more when they learn how to focus the intention and access this power through pure joy, passion and creative self-expression.

TAROT: EMPRESS in the Tarot is aligned with number 3 – look for opportunities to be generous, warm and nurturing as you can be the Cosmic Child and the Cosmic Great Mother.

4  YIN WATER/EARTH – FORM

SECURITY, STABILITY, PRACTICALITY, HOME AND FAMILY ROOTS AND TRADITIONS. THE SALT OF THE EARTH.

Potential Positive Traits: Dedicated, earthy, trustworthy, practical, methodical, economical, disciplined, strong and orderly. These characters stick to it until the job is done. It stands steady like the four-square, logical and scientific with a hard-headed, hard-working type of expression and is a quality of consciousness which likes all things laid out in a logical manner. They are exact and precise, methodical and conscientious, frugal, devoted, patriotic and trustworthy. They will not be able to move on until the job is completed to its full. The 4 can be antagonistic, therefore, to the 3.

Potential Negative Traits: Inflexible, narrow-minded, stubborn, dishonest, restricted, crude, discourteous, harsh and unyielding. The 4 pays for their stability and pragmatism by tending towards the boring side. There may be a lack of imagination, emotion and empathy and they may not bother much with their appearance. Socially awkward they can sometimes seem vulgar or dry, crude or jealous. 13/4 is the Malefic of the 4 and is explored in the essay of Malefic's.

40/4 is worth observing here: In the higher dimensions the 4 with zero have a Mystical Energy, a Magician and Merlin energy of sorts. They need time to renew and recharge between projects of higher order. They can struggle with fatigue as they work at another level of determined manifestation. It is a number that manifests by Purification through Cleansing to achieve Transformation and Manifestation on several dimensions. They are often here to make magic for the world, for others, to be of use at a higher level.

Astrological Association: ARIES Ruled by MARS, who is the warrior who takes charge, leads the way and gets the job done to reach the finish line or goal.

TAROT: The Emperor is associated with 4 -that which provides stability for the people, with wisdom and authority and a firm set of standards that support achievement of goals.

The MASTER Number 22/4

22/4 is the SPIRITUAL Expression of BALANCE and INTEGRATION. A Higher Calling to Build at a far higher level than the root 4. It is asked to do it with self and others as it employs 2+2 to become the MASTER ARCHITECT and BUILDER. At this stage in consciousness, one has the vision and the power of putting large scale vision into form. The Practical Mystic is represented in 22. Leaders of Nations and some of the greatest inventors, scientists, engineers and surgeons, all who combine the power of receiving the vision and bringing it into manifestation, are examples of the 22 consciousness. In the philosophy of reincarnation it is seen that the 22 consciousness has the power to break away from “the wheel of life", never more to return to material things, unless by deliberate choice for another higher calling to Earth.

5  YANG/ FIRE

THE DYNAMIC FORCE, CHANGE, PRIDE, PURPOSE, CREATIVITY, PASSION, MAGNETISM, ENERGIZED, EXPANSIVE, FAST AND VIVACIOUS – A MOVING ENERGY.

Potential Positive Traits: Independent, versatile, active, free, progressive, accepting of change, spontaneous, opportunistic, unconventional, enterprising and full of vitality. It is Gaiety and Joy and expresses a desire to be free through life. It gives a dislike for responsibility but gives power to excel in public speaking and in occupations that require travel. Adventurous, daring and free loving they tend to be more versatile than any other number, developing powers of flexibility, adaptability and eternal curiosity with quick-thinking with and charm. They are courageous and worldly.

Potential Negative Traits: Sensation-seeking, tempted, impulsive, fearful, restless, frenzied, nervous and overly anxious. Eccentric, indulgent, frivolous and shallow with little regard for dangers or others’ whom they may impose their chaos upon. 6  YIN EARTH

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND SERVICE. COMPASSION, RESPONSIBILITY, HEALING, VISIONARY, HELPING AND MOTHERING, PRODUCTIVITY, HYGIENE, DIET, SYSTEMIZATION, PURIFICATION, CONTROL, AND THE COSMIC MOTHER OR FATHER ARCHETYPE.

Potential Positive Traits: Responsible, supportive and caring. Appreciative, trustworthy, charitable and dutiful. Happy, just and understanding – a positive 6 loves to give love and care for those close to them. The most natural mothers and fathers are found to be with this essence. Those who do not marry will likely be involved in philanthropic work, especially among younger people. There are abilities in music, particularly stringed instruments, like piano or violin and harp. Colourful, and creating beauty and harmony in their environments is a noticeable trait. The intuitive and psychic faculties can unfold when higher realms of consciousness are attained.

Potential Negative Traits: Irresponsible, vindictive, unyielding, possessive, ungracious, cynical, unreliable, hostile and unfeeling. They can attract abusive relationships and engage in them, being held by them. There can be a gross over-exaggeration or distortion of reality and severe critical aspects can develop if the person moves into destructive forms of this vibration. They can overdo inherent protectiveness and become highly anxious, worrisome, suspicious, paranoid, emotionally or mentally unstable and cynical or jealous. They do tend towards the conventional, falling into behaviours of compensating, conforming, habitual and compromising ways. They are then easily exploited. 6 is an embodiment of Yin Earth Service and if the individual cannot find unconditional love in themselves, they can turn on the world in "blame", as a victim of life, pursuing an extremely destructive mind-set with extreme emotional reactions, which may become malicious, over-controlling, vindictive, punishing and cruel.

Astrological Association: 6 falls under the Planet Venus, the Ray of Human Love and Home. Gemini is the sign associated with 6, chattering a mile a minute – fast-thinking and talking. The need for communication can come from the 33 within the 6.

Tarot Association: THE LOVERS: as the bearers of this essence 6 need to integrate two potential realities or let go of one of them.

Master Number 33/6 is the DOUBLE TRINITY – (note: numerology still considers this vibration as 6 with the addition frequency of the 2 x odd numbers = even number 6). This is a path of Spiritual Awakening and considered the MASTER TEACHER, ORATOR and HEALER. It is a path of selfless giving. Potential Positive Traits: Wise, Understanding, truth-seeking, analytical, spiritual, specialist, intuitive, studious, solitary, dignified, intellectual. 7 is not just a lucky number, as from Ancient Times 7 has been known as The Temple Number, signifying a state of consciousness wherein one withdraws from outer expression into the inner planes of consciousness, to connect with the knowledge and mysteries of life. 7 typically great inbreathing period for regeneration. The personal phases of experience of 1 to 6 have likely been attained and the strong humanitarian element of expression is yet to come. 7’s are spiritual, intelligent, analytical and focused, introspective and studious, intuitive, knowledgeable, contemplative, serious and persevering. 8  YIN WATER/EARTH

BALANCE AND POWER. TRANSFORMATION AND REGENERATION. INFINITY. RESILIENCE. TENACITY. DETERMINATION. STRENGTH IN ADVERSITY. ENDURANCE. ABUNDANCE ESSENCE.

Potential Positive Traits: Powerful, decisive, authoritative, materially successful. Judgmental, balanced, disciplined, responsible. Influential, self-confident, pioneering and venturesome. Street-smart and good judges of character, the 8 is realistic when balanced. As the number pattern suggests, 8 is two circles touching, and from a mystical standpoint represents Reflection of SPIRIT in MATTER. 8’s are Master Minds. They are organizers and directors of large concerns. They must manifest largely, power being their natural right. Restrictions or limitations of any kind are antagonistic to the 8 person who must overcome this. They have strong personalities and do not always get on with others in an easy-going manner. 9 YANG  FIRE/AIR

THE HUMANITARIAN - MASTERY: EXPANSION, COMPLETION, FULFILMENT, ENDING OF CYCLES, QUEST FOR TRUTH, INTEGRITY, FAITH AND THE ULTIMATE EXPRESSION OF COMPASSION. IN MY END, IS MY BEGINNING. GLOBAL AWARENESS.

Potential Positive traits: Selfless Giver to Humanitarian Causes. Care and Protection for the less fortunate. Compassion for all. Idealistic and broad-minded, creative, loving, humble and giving. Forgiving. Helpful, aristocratic and sophisticated, charitable and generous, romantic and cooperative. These are self-sufficient beings who pride themselves a little on being self-sacrificing. 9 is signified as SPIRIT reaching down to matter. 9 becomes the number of reincarnation and is the keynote of souls who return as the humanitarian workers and race-up-lifters. Philanthropy on a universal scale is an attribute of the number 9 person. These characters are great teachers, healers, writers or composers depending on the position of the 9.

11 “THE PSYCHIC MASTER”

LIKE A MIRROR - 1+1 IS NOT ONLY ACKNOWLEDGING ONE’S OWN SELFHOOD, BUT ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF THE UNIQUE AUTHENTICITY OF ANOTHER PERSON. 11 IS THE HIGHEST EXPRESSION OF THE 2.

The possessor of 11 has chosen to attain a higher plane of consciousness. The Ancient Temples of Mystery had a pillar on either side of the entrance, appearing as the 11 appears, a gateway of sorts into another dimension or of a Sacred Path. The Pillar on the Right is called Jachin and means “He shall establish”. The Pillar on the Left is called Boaz, which means "In it is strength”. They represent the positive and the negative, masculine-feminine, active and passive forces, that by walking between the two of them, we bring a sense of balance into our lives. So, the 11 who enters the Temple by the center between the two pillars has chosen the positive, upward way. Once on the right path, success is assured.

Potential Positive Traits: As 2 is a follower, you can be sure that 11 likes to stand on its own two feet. It has natural abilities of the 1 and is artistic, spiritual and inspired. All 11’s are meant to be professional people because they cannot be happy in mundane work. They are inspired artists, painters, teachers and philosophers. Ministers, musicians, composers, performers and decorators. Their desire is to uplift others through the beauty of their creations or with their inspired actions. Potential Negative Traits : 11’s can slip into negative and destructive, as can any other number vibration, and rather than uplifting humanity they want to rule, enslave and manipulate. They can be wicked leaders such as Mussolini and Hitler (their names total 11). Negative 11’s can lack the practical aspects of being in tune with material matters, and it is common for these 11’s to give union and vision to the plodding, practical and material 4 type, and this partnership is a well-balanced arrangement.
